Dr.Kingsley-Joseph-

Dr Kingsley Joseph is the medical director of our group. He is passionate about providing high quality family medicine to the community based on a holistic approach to health. He has been practicing medicine in Australia for over a decade. His career started in Sri Lanka when he graduated from his Medical degree in Jaffna University. He has a broad range of experiences spanning both urban and rural health services in Australia and Sri Lanka.

His work in Sri Lanka included working in prestigious tertiary hospitals such as the National Hospital in the capital Colombo as well as the children’s hospital Lady Ridgeway Hospital(LRH). LRH has over 900 beds and is now considered one of the largest children’s hospital in the world and treats all its patients free of charge.

Dr Joseph’s experience in Australia began in sunny Queensland where he worked for several years in Rockhampton, Nambour and Bunderberg. This experience was invaluable in gaining insight into both Australian healthcare system as well as the Australian way of life. He gained a lot of experience in diagnosing and treating skin cancers during this time which he went onto develop further as he undertook postgraduate training in General Practice.

His interest in General Practice brought him to Victoria where he worked at Sunshine Hospital and Western Hospital before completing his Fellowship under the Royal Australian College of General Practice in 2008 (RACGP).

A warm and friendly doctor, Dr Joseph’s special interest areas in General Practice are diagnosing and treating Skin Cancers as well as providing Shared Maternity Care for pregnant patients. Dr Joseph is registered to provide Shared Maternity Care to patients in partnership with The Royal Women’s Hospital, The Mercy Hospital for Women, Sunshine Hospital and The Northern Hospital. The aspects he most enjoys about his work is the ability to work with members of the whole family as well as the ability to deliver Primary Prevention in order to minimise illnesses before they occur.

His interests outside work include following sports, engaging in charity work and being involved in his Church ministry. He is a pastor and the founder of the Holy Spirit Gospel Church.

He is fluent in English, Tamil and Singhala and consults full time at Alpha Medical.

Dr. Ela Hashemi | MBBS, FRACGP

Dr. Ela Hashemi is a friendly and caring family physician practice at Alpha Medical Clinic as a full-time staff. She has a wide range of clinical experience in family medicine with a special interest in women’s health, children’s health Travel Medicine and Chronic Illness.

Dr. Ela is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners and subscribes to the values and highest standards espoused by the college. She regularly attends conferences on general medical practice to update her knowledge and enhance her skills in order to offer state of the art care to her patients.

Dr. Ela is fluent in speaking both English and Persian.

 

Dr. Rasika Lakmali Kumarasinghe | MBBS, DCH, FRACGP

RasikaDr Rasika Kumarasinghe is a warm, personable and knowledgeable doctor who has been part of our team for several years. Her medical career commenced when she graduated from her medical degree at The University of Sri Jayawardenapura in Sri Lanka in 2004. During her foundation years, she gained experience in a wide variety of medical specialties including surgical and paediatrics. In addition, Dr Kumarasinghe worked as a medical officer in the Cardiology Unit at a leading Teaching Hospital in Sri Lanka for nearly 5 years from which she gained a very in depth knowledge in this area of medicine. She then went onto work as a medical officer in the Emergency Department of Colombo South Teaching Hospital which is a very busy department in a leading tertiary hospital in Sri Lanka.

In addition to many years of hospital work, Dr Kumarasinghe also gained over 5 years of experience as a general practitioner in Sri Lanka. She enjoyed working with families to help resolve the wide variety of medical issues and concerns they presented with.

In 2012, Dr Kumarasinghe migrated to Australia and continued to pursue her passion for General Practice and began working with us at Alpha Medical Clinic. She completed her postgraduate studies as a Fellow with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners(RACGP) in 2015. She has also completed a post graduate Diploma in Child Health.

Dr Rasika is accredited to provided shared maternity care for pregnant women attending Mercy Hospital, The Royal Women’s Hospital, and The Northern Hospital.

Within General Practice her special areas of interest are Antenatal care, Women’s Health, Children’s Health, Cardiology, Mental Health, Chronic Disease Management and Family Medicine.

Dr Kumarasinghe is fluent in English and Sinhala and consults full time at our clinic.

Dr. Pavatharani Devapriya | MBBS, FRACGP

         

Dr Pavatharani Devapriya is a full time GP at our clinic who enjoys the multicultural working environment. She has been a doctor for 25 years and her special interests within General Practice are Women’s Health and Paediatrics (Children’s health).

Dr Devapriya is a knowledgeable and engaging doctor who completed her medical degree in MGR University in India in 1991. She enjoyed working in multiple Hospitals in Sri Lanka such as Apollo Hospital, Asiri Hospital and Nawaloka Hospital before emigrating to Australia where she has worked for many years in metropolitan and rural hospitals and clinics. she undertook her postgraduate training under the Royal Australian College of General Practice and became fully qualified as Fellow in 2019.

Apart from gaining extensive experience in Women’s health and Children’s health, Dr Devapriya also has a Diploma in Psychology which she completed in 2006. This allows her to provide specific care to those with mental illness as well as equips her to provide general counselling to those who may benefit from it.

Her interests outside medicine include reading, travelling and music. She is fluent in English, Tamil and Singhala.

Dr. Mary Maha Murallidaran | MBBS, DCH

Dr Mary Murallidaran is one of our friendly General Practitioners. She began her medical career in 2003 when she graduated from the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka with her medical degree. She gained experience in a broad range of areas in Medicine when she undertook 3 years of hospital work followed by a further 2 years in General Practice work in Sri Lanka.

She particularly loved working with sick children and their families to help them recover quickly and return to their normal lives. When she emigrated to Australia she took the time to further pursue this passion by completing a Diploma in Child Health at the University of New South Wales in 2013.

Dr Murallidaran is a kind and patient doctor whose special interests are Children’s Health, Women’s Health and Management of Chronic illnesses. The aspect she most enjoys about General Practice is her ability to be involved in helping her patients lead healthy lives.

Outside of medicine, Dr Murallidaran enjoys listening to music and spending time with her family.

Dr Murallidaran can speak English and Tamil. She consults Full time at our clinic.

Dr. Shanaka Manori Kodithuwakku | MBBS, FRACGP

Dr. Arunan DevaPriya | MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Devapriya is a friendly doctor with many years of medical experience. He graduated with his medical degree from Dr M.G.R Medical University in India in 1990. He completed his internship at Coimbatore Medical college before working in very rural areas of Kerala at Catholic Mission Hospitals, these areas weren’t even serviced by public buses. He then decided to move to Sri Lanka to gain further experience and training. He worked in many different hospitals and different departments. This included being a Senior Medical Officer in Women’s Health at Matale Base Hospital, Registrar in Paediatrics and Neonatal Intensive Care at Sri Jeyawardenepura Hospital from 1993 to 2001 as well as being in charge of Nawaloka Private Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit till 2005.

After moving to Australia, he explored other areas of Medicine. From 2008 till 2011, he worked at The Northern Hospital in a variety of departments such as Psychiatry, Obstetrics, Oncology, Night doctor for Medical and Surgical Wards. He worked at Bundoora Extended Care Centre in Geriatrics (care for the elderly), Rehabilitation post-stroke and other injuries, and Aged Psychiatry. He worked as a senior medical officer in Psychiatry with the Darebin Community Mental Health Unit.

 Dr Arunan really enjoys the diversity of General Practice and the ability to treat people from all different demographic groups. He also loves to apply his experience in Emergency Medicine in certain situations in General Practice.

Outside Medicine, he has many interests. He is a keen sportsman who played cricket and table tennis for his medical college at the state level. He also loves to draw portraits of famous people as well as being an avid reader with a large collection of books, especially autobiographies.

Tintu George | Registered Nurse (Div 1)

Tintu George is a warm and friendly nurse who is committed to providing the highest level of nursing care to all of her patients. Tintu graduated from Sree Siddaganga College of Nursing in India in 2006. She began her career as a nurse at Harsha Hospital in Bangalore, India. After several years of service in India, Tintu emigrated to Australia where she initially did a work place experience as part of the nurse adoptation course at Norvest Private Hospital in Sydney for several years. She then made the move to Melbourne and has been a highly valued member of our team since 2012.

Tintu has a passion for learning and has completed many post graduate course since arriving in Australia such as Immunisation for Nurses, Certificate III in Aged Care, Diploma in Community Welfare, Triage training for General Practice, CPR in General Practice, and Application of First Aid.

Her special interests in Nursing are Immunisation, Health Education and Health Promotion, Diabetes and Asthma Care as well as wound management. She really enjoys the team atmosphere and collaborative nature of her work in General Practice as well as the patient centred care.

Outside work Tintu enjoys Art, Music and Craft work. She can speak English, Malayalam and Tamil. She works full time at our clinic from Monday to Friday.
